The user system

The bluetronix software differentiates between 3 user groups, the administrators, the employees and the registered users.

admin

The administrator has access to all functions of the software. He can create pages and directories as he likes, create employees and change their passwords. He has access to the PHP code, site management and FTP access.

employees

The employee can actively participate in the design of the website. He can be authorized to create pages and directories within his user directory. An email address and individual modules of the bluetronix software can be assigned to the employee. The employee can also be promoted to an administrator.

Registered users and groups

Users in this group generally do not have access to edit mode, but can be authorized to enter a password-protected area. For example, the page is protected for posting in a discussion forum or for reading an internal page of the home page.

Change administrator password – change user password

From the main menu, open the user management . click on Administrator password or. user password to change. Enter the old password, the new password and the new password a second time to check the input. Confirm with Change Password . After the change, log out De-register and log in with the new password.

Employee administration – creating an employee

The following example is intended to clarify the functions of employee administration. The goal is to create a collaborator and use it to edit the pages in the directory News to authorize.

Open the User Management -> Employee Login Management . Under "Create user" enter a user name, for example "Editor" and click on Invest .

In the next step, the password for the new employee is assigned. Click next to the employee name password . Enter the new password and the new password a second time to check the input and click on Change Password .

Now the employee rights are assigned. To do this, click on To change .

In the user settings, the employee is authorized for the modules page, statistics and email.

One or more email addresses can also be assigned to the employee. To do this, enter the email address in the input field under Email (or if there are several addresses, separate them with spaces). Thus, the employee only has access to the assigned addresses, but cannot create and delete email addresses themselves. You should enter the email address previously as in chapter Create email address invest.

In order to authorize the employee for the entire email administration (e.g. for a second admin), activate the "Email" module.

The option "Assign full admin rights" promotes the employee to a full administrator. This can use all functions, except for changing the password of another administrator.

A directory for images, documents and pages can be assigned to the user under User directories. If the fields are left blank, the user is not allowed to upload files and create pages and directories. In this example, the user was given the directory /img/ assigned to store images.

When assigning the directories, ensure that they have not already been assigned to other users in order to prevent overlaps.

Under "User may edit the following directories" you can assign individual pages and directories (subdirectories are included) to the employee. This means that the user can only change pages that have already been created. He may not create any pages and directories and delete any.

In this example, the directory /news/ assigned.

In conclusion Save on computer the settings. To test the user, log out of edit mode with De-register and log in with the created employee name (here in the example editor).

Block employees / users

In some cases it makes more sense to suspend a user than to delete them. For example, a registered user in the form who broke the rules. If the user is blocked, it remains in the user administration. A new attempt by the user to register (with the same email address) will be rejected by the system. In addition, a blocked user can be unblocked again. This is not possible with a deleted user.

To ban a user, open the User Management -> Employee Login Management or with a registered user User Management -> Registered Users and Groups . Select the desired username from the selection and click Lock out . The status icon is displayed in red for this user. All login attempts will be rejected immediately.

Unblock employees / users

Unblocking is important, for example, if an employee has accidentally been automatically blocked by the system due to too many login attempts. To do this, open the User Management -> Employee Login Management or with a registered user User Management -> Registered Users and Groups . Select the desired username from the selection and click unlock . The status icon changes to green. The user can now log in again.

Reassign user password – forgot password

As an administrator, you are authorized to change user passwords without knowing their current password. This is necessary, for example, if the user has forgotten his password. To do this, click below User Management -> Employee Login Management or for a registered user at User Management -> Registered Users and Groups next to the user password . Enter the new password and enter the new password a second time to check the input. click on Change Password .

Inform the user of the new password.

The “Forgot Password” function is available for registered users in the “Internal Areas” module. This allows the user to automatically request a new password by email. See also chapter Internal area .
